Ohmygod.
Did GoDaddy really just send all of its customers an ecard for Valentine's Day?
It is well established knowledge in the web services industry that any time you email your customer base, a small percentage of your customer base will opt out of any further communication from you, and a slightly smaller percentage will remember that they have your service and do not really use it that much (and subsequently cancel outright). So where I work, we make sure that if we send our customers an email, they have a good reason to get it, and that the upside (in additional revenue, new customers, etc.) will more than make up for any downside (opt-outs and cancels).
GoDaddy probably lost the ability to talk to a bunch of its customers in exchange for the upside of.....telling me that they love me?
Just for the record, if I did that for my company, I'd get absolutely shredded, and then the coleslaw of my remains would be summarily and rightfully fired.
