I'm not sure how many of you all get a chance to read my funny little wine column for the illustrious SB Daily Sound, but a couple of weeks ago I wrote about my five favorite things about harvest: beer, sunrises, speaking spanish, ghetto lunches, and improvising in no particular order. Now I will share the three best things about Pub Quiz:
1. The Pub - I love the OKR so much that I've been known to show up on thursday morning after a night of Pub Quiz and subsequent frivolity. I know of no better compliment or truer sign of devotion.
2. The Quiz - It is more random than Lindsay Lohan's love life, more progressive than US income tax, more entertaining than DWTS, more educational than C-SPAN, and more fun than a barrel of McCains. The questions will make you laugh, groan, boo, holler, curse, and sometimes tear up a bit. Better than the the last 10 seasons of Survivor.
3. The People - You guys are great. Especially when it comes to dealing with the inherent snafus involved in Pub Quiz: Thrill of Victory, Agony of Defeat, Lack of Power during Gap Fire, Quizmaster Tim losing the categories for next week's round 3, etc. The Pub Quiz regulars and semi-regulars take it all in stride.
Last week was a nice week for Team #10 The Fundamentals of Jake & Chris are Still Sound. They won overall score and round 4. They even gave me a bunch of great categories on a yellow-orangish piece of paper. This paper however was lost of destroyed in the midst of celebrating the Dodgers division-clinching celebration. I will be sure to keep it in a water/beer/champagne-proof bag next time. If Team #10 could post or email the categories again I'd be much obliged. And here there are if you missed them in the comments:
- Grammar
- My Fair Lady
- Dioji
- Simon and Garfunkel
- The Princess Bride

- Movies that star rock stars
- Joan Aiken

I saw this bit of "news" in a recent Entertainment Weekly,
"MARRIED Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz, 32, wed his girlfriend of four years, Jill Stonerock, 25, in Los Olivos, Calif., on Sept. 20."
...QM Tim's wine store is in Los Olivos.
I'm not sure what this means but I think it might be a clue to the indeniable obsession.

Stonerock?
Is that like teh Grateful Dead, or Indigo Girls?
Oh, I gues with the Indigo Girls, there are no stones involved...
