Sorry it's been such a long time since my last post, but we've been crazy busy here. I think things are finally starting to calm down a bit and am looking forward to a relaxed Labor Day weekend.
I have some photos to share with you, but they require a little explanation, so I beg your patience.
Phil and Margaret Efron are really great friends of mine. Phil and I grew up together and is easily the most loyal, kill-or-die-for-you guy I know. Margaret, his wife, is utterly charming, an absolute blast and the perfect match for him. I attended their wedding several years ago. Kim and I visited them in Gainesville, and they've visited us here. We were (all four of us) very excited to see each other at the wedding and had been planning for them to stay longer after the wedding so we could spend time with them after the EVENT.
Long story short, Phil is a doctor and has had back problems in recent years. Three weeks before our wedding, he called saying he had to go in for surgery on his back and would have to miss the wedding. This was impossibly bad news- in retrospect the only bad thing that happened with our wedding. Phil and Margaret felt terrible because they wanted to be here so badly, and Kim and I felt awful knowing what they were going through while we were stuffing each other's faces with cake.
Enter my friend Andy (aka Stone) who also grew up with Phil and recognized the crappy hand that fate had dealt all of us. Andy and his then-girlfriend-now-fiancee Lauren purchased two finger puppets to represent Phil and Margaret at our wedding, so they could participate in photos, etc. Phil, appropriately, was represented by the surgeon finger puppet, while Margaret was represented by the horse finger puppet. Incidentally, please don't think Andy was being insensitive for picking a horse to represent Margaret (who I assure you is lovely, and in no way horselike in appearance). There just wasn't a "patent attorney" finger puppet readily available, so I think Andy went with the first thing he could find as a replacement.
At any rate, I give you Phil and Margaret's Santa Barbara Photo Album.
UPDATE: Sorry, forgot that the photo website requires a username and password to view pictures (stupid). Use this dummy account if you don't already have your own (but obviously don't give any of your personal information or buy photos in this account):
